I grew up in Nanoose Bay a small town in British Columbia, Canada. I began painting and drawing at a very young age. Throughout the years I always had an interest in art, and was always curious at the challenge of portraiture. In art class when I was in grade eleven I was assigned to paint a portrait, I had a sense of angst towards the thought of; what if I cant do this? I had an idea in mind to paint an artist that inspired me at the time. I really wanted to represent who he was and what he meant to me. The challenge was thrilling. And I've been hooked ever since on a journey to capture different subjects in the form of realism portrait paintings.
I started painting in acrylics in 2014 using what I've been told as dry brush methods where you spread layer over layer of very thin paint. This was quite satisfying for me and gave me the depth I was looking for, but once I found oils there was no turning back. The paint mixes on the canvas and dries within days rather than minutes. Since 2018 I have not returned to acrylic paint.
I have been blessed with the opportunity to show my work in various places around the world. In 2023 my painting “How Much Does a Dollar Cost?” was in the London Art Biennale. “Into the light” was featured in the Chiancianno Biennale in 2024, and received the award for best painting of the show. In 2025 I was a part of the wonderful Arte Capital in Mexico city.
